Wellbeing is at the heart of school life at Freemen’s. We create a community where everyone feels known, supported and able to thrive.
As pupils grow, we give them space to understand themselves, build resilience and flourish academically and personally.
We believe happy, supported staff create a happy school.
Through Continued Professional Learning (CPL), we embed pastoral care, SEND awareness and the importance of mattering across our community. More than 40 staff members are trained in Mental Health First Aid, ensuring care, expertise and understanding run through every part of school life.
Our Anglican Chaplain offers reflection, guidance and pastoral support to pupils of all faiths and none.
Open 8.30am–5.30pm, Monday to Friday during term time, the Medical Centre cares for injuries, illness and ongoing conditions, as well as providing health education and pastoral guidance.
Our Medical Centre, staffed by experienced nurses trained in Mental Health First Aid, offers daily care and guidance. Pupils can access a weekly school counsellor drop-in, dedicated safeguarding specialists and support for physical and emotional wellbeing.
Peer mentors and trained Sixth Formers provide support, empathy and encouragement. Staff are continually developing their pastoral expertise through ongoing training and Mental Health First Aid programmes.
